Free Meal Update - Budget has Passed

Graphic announcement about free meals in the 2025-26 school year, depicted with a plate, fork, and knife icon on a dark blue background.

In the early morning hours of October 3, the Michigan Legislature passed the state budget. Included in the budget, among other things, are free breakfast and lunch for all students for the 2025-26 school year, pending the Governor’s signature.

As students return on Monday, October 6, they will see no change in the food service process. For those who may qualify for free and reduced meals, that qualification also supports reduced fees for athletics and school fees as well as qualifies the District for additional funding. Filling out the form was beneficial, even with free meals for the 2025-26 school year.
